Consolidation

The Prime Distribution Services definition of consolidation is relatively simple; vendors warehouse their product at our facilities, we pick and pack their orders and combine them with other PO's bound for the same destination, on a single outbound truck. While this concept is simple enough, attention to detail at every step of the process is paramount to its success. PDS has gained expertise in this area through its many years of involvement in retail freight consolidation. Our consolidation programs have grown to be some of the most respected in the country. These programs focus on lowering supply chain costs for suppliers while improving performance with regard to on time delivery and overall efficiency.
At the heart of our success is our willingness to accommodate customer requests. Through innovative problem solving and open cooperation we have been able to build our programs around our customers needs; at the same time providing the highest level of service to the retail destinations. PDS also maintains an "open door" policy urging our customers to visit our facilities as often as they like. Additionally, we never lose sight of the fact that our customers' participation in consolidation is strictly voluntary.
Vendors that are on continuous LTL replenishment can use this system as an alternative to using LTL carriers or several forward warehouses. Vendors have the choice to warehouse product at PDS or orders can be cross-docked.
Since many of our customers are small companies with large volumes of business at the retail level, they are comforted by the fact that our expertise and systems can meet nearly all the distribution requirements set forth by most retailers. This level of comfort allows them to concentrate on their core business which is to put the best product on the shelf at the lowest possible cost.
